About Me

My name is Lexi Gibson. I am from South Florida and am now living in Tallahassee to study Public Health at Florida State University. Throughout my childhood, my life has been concentrated on dance. I have spent the past 15 years of my life training extensively in all styles of dance with professionals from all over the world, and I took that devotion and poured it into the kids I teach as well. That was my ultimate passion until one day I got the opportunity to observe open-heart surgery at the hospital I previously worked at. From then on, I knew that I had to enter a profession in the medical field. Working in the pre-operative unit of the hospital allowed me to witness doctors in their job setting. This opened my eyes to a multitude of disparities among healthcare workers and overall how it contributes to their increasing burnout. Because of my first-hand experience, I decided to base my research in ENC2135 around the topic of burnout within the medical community. Follow along to see what I have produced from my research!
